BARBARA K. JORDAN
SLINGERLANDS - It is with deep love and profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our adoring mother, Barbara K. Jordan, of Slingerlands, NY. She passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the age of 82. She was the heart of our family — the best mother, grandmother, big sister, aunt, daughter, and a shining example of unconditional love.
She was born and raised in the Stockade section of Schenectady and as a teenager she tap danced on The Teenage Barn Show which was televised on WRGB. She loved her Polish heritage and was an amazing Polka dancer.
Mom spent her life putting others before herself. With quiet strength, wisdom, and endless grace, she nurtured those around her and created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of comfort only she could provide. Her legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and a fierce devotion to her family.
She was not only a mother but a best friend, a confidante, and a source of unwavering support. As a grandmother, she was joy personified — her hugs healed everything, her stories enchanted generations, and her love was boundless.
Mom taught us how to love deeply, speak gently, and live generously. Whether she was cooking a favorite meal, listening with her whole heart, or simply holding your hand in silence, she made every moment feel sacred.
We were blessed that mom was a traditional homemaker during our younger school years. She attended every school event, tennis match, and was involved in the PTA for years. She was also an exceptional cake baker, a great tennis player, and loved a good workout. We cannot fail to mention that we will all miss the incredible Thanksgiving meals she prepared for decades. No one could cook a turkey like mom - holidays will never be the same without her.
After the passing of her father in 1998, mom and her brother began managing the family business, Lasky's Marina (aka "camp") on the Great Sacandaga Lake, which was established in 1939 and then sold just a few years ago. Mom's heart was full of joy and endless memories at camp as a child, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending weekends at camp greeting new customers and decades-long returning customers who were like family to her.
She is predeceased by her parents Charles W. Lasky, Sr. and Natalie M. Lasky and the father of her children, Jeffrey W. Jordan. She leaves behind three children, Kimberly Whitacre of Halfmoon, Lisa (Ricky) Buffaline, of Latham, and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Jordan, of East Greenbush, along with six grandchildren who were the light of her life - twins, Katie and Ryan Buffaline, twins, Natalie and Colin Jordan, and their younger brothers, Liam and Grayson Jordan. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Dr. Charles Lasky (Dale Walton), of Saratoga Springs, and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved deeply.
Her absence is immeasurable, but so is the love she gave us. We are eternally grateful to have been hers. We love you so much mom, rest in peace.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Christ the King Church in Guilderland (20 Sumter Ave, Albany, NY); Father Lesser, celebrant.
