Obituary of Francesco Renda

LATHAM - Francesco (Frank) Renda, 94, of Latham, beloved husband of the late Caterina Renda of 58 years, entered eternal life on Tuesday May 6, 2025, with his family at his side. Born in Cardinale, Italy in the Calabria region, he was the son of the late Nicola and Maria Teresa (Mantello) Renda. Francesco and his family immigrated to the USA in 1971.

Francesco worked for Beltrone Construction for over twenty years, a place where he made lifelong friends and worked on most of the Capital Regions notable projects. Francesco was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed and looked forward to his trips to his home in Florida to escape the New York winters.

With each change of season, Francesco enjoyed his old-world traditions, like growing, picking and canning vegetables in the summer, and mastering his wine making skills in the fall and crafting his homemade artisan cured Salami and cheese in the winter; all of which he generously shared with his family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and meticulously grooming his lawn.

Francesco and his family were long time communicants of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. He was predeceased by his wife Caterina Renda, son Giuseppe Renda, his parents Nicola and Maria Teresa Renda, his sister Vittoria (late Cesare) Comito, and his brothers Guiseppe, Salvatore and Vittorio Renda.

He is survived by his loving children, Nick (Grace) Renda of Loudonville, Salvatore (Dana) Renda of Cohoes and his Daughter-in-law Rose Renda of Port St. Lucie Florida; his cherished grandchildren, Catherine (Anthony) Catalano, Elizabeth Renda, Francesco Renda (Brooke DiMarinis), Vittoria Renda and Teresa Correa and his most cherished great-granddaughter Mila-Joe Correa.

In addition, Francesco is also survived by his brother Nicola (late Giuseppina) Renda of Italy, his sister Eleonora (late Domenico) Cunsolo of Clifton Park NY and his sister-in-law Maria Grazia (late Vittorio) Renda of Latham, NY, in addition to numerous loving and caring nieces and nephews in the USA, Canada, Italy, and Switzerland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum in Troy, NY.
