Obituary of Ellen E. Daly

ELLEN E. DALY

LATHAM - It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the sudden passing of Ellen Elizabeth Daly, who joined her earthly mother and Heavenly Father on April 28, 2025, at the age of 62 after complications from a recurring struggle with cancer.

Ellen was born on June 30, 1962, in Binghamton, New York, to Daniel R. and Ann F. Hoch. Following her graduation from Red Hook Central High School, she attended SUNY Plattsburg where she graduated in 1984.

A devoted wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great-aunt, and friend, Ellen will be remembered for her love of family, constant thoughts of others, and the grace with which she lived her life. Her presence brought warmth and love to all who knew her.

Ellen is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Robert Daly, and her loving father, Daniel R. Hoch (Judy Gowdy), along with siblings Daniel J. Hoch (Ellen Perticone) of Timonium, MD, Mary Fisher of Hurley, NY, Kathleen Norton of Ellicott City, MD, and Ann Burdick (Thomas) of Glenmont, NY. She is also survived by in-laws Kathleen Daly, Christopher Daly, and Andrew Daly all of Hudson Falls, NY; Michael Daly (Jane Hogan Daly) of Brockton, MA and their sons Robert F. Daly and John M. Daly. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews and their families: Joseph Fisher (Michelle), their children Molly and Emmet; Matthew Fisher (Erika) and their daughters Ellie (Ellen's namesake) and Lucia; James and Wesley Norton; Annie Burdick and Amy Burdick. Ellen will be remembered by her many friends, especially childhood classmates Karen Sipperly and Tracy Mahoney Kleinsmith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ann F. Hoch.

Ellen's greatest joy was being with family. Lovingly known as "Tia," she especially loved and was loved by the little ones. Ellen found joy celebrating her nieces' and nephews' lives… everything from playing peekaboo, to cheering their many performances and competitions, to attending college graduations.

Ellen enjoyed US and international adventures, especially when it involved visiting a niece or nephew on their travels and special events around the world. She and Bob visited 38 states on their quest to see all 50 states. Still, family times like visiting her father in Massachusetts, lounging on the beach with her sisters, or hosting Christmas dinner for everyone, were among her happiest times, and especially her many wonderful years with her loving husband Bob.

Ellen's life was marked by her boundless love for all – for her best friend and husband Bob, for her extended family, for neighbors and friends, and of course for the many cats she rescued throughout the years. Ellen could always be relied on to lend a hand, knowing just what was needed and just what to do and say.

To think of Ellen is to think of love. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved just as she loved.
