LATHAM - Kurt Robert Steenburgh, 81 of Latham, beloved husband of Myong U. (Yi) Steenburgh, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at The Center for Nursing And Rehab, in Hoosick Falls.




Born in Schenectady, NY, on July 4th, 1943, he was the son of the late Kurt H. and Jessica (Nealon) Steenburgh. Kurt married Myong U. Yi on October 6th, 1971 enjoying a cherished marriage of 53 years together.




Kurt graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in music. His favorite instrument was the piano and he loved to play for his beloved Myong. Kurt served honorably in the US Army from 1968 to 1970.


He was the proprietor of Myong's Oriental Store in Latham. Kurt was also very involved in his community. He was two-time past president of the Latham Rotary, trustee of the Carver Community Center in Schenectady, and avid supporter of the Schenectady City Mission.




In addition to his late parents, Kurt is predeceased by his brothers-in-law Young Chul Yi, Young Chin Yi, and Rev. Harry E. Faust.




In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Gretchen Pusey, favorite sister-in-law Kyung Handorf, as well as sister-in-law Jung Ah Ju, and brothers-in-law Steve Y. Lee, Young W. Yi, and Young Sil Yi. Also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as grand-nieces and nephews.




Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday at 9:00 am at the Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
