NANCY VAN SLUYTERS

Newtonville - It is with profound sadness that we announce that Nancy Mann Lambert Van Sluyters passed away quietly on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy, NY.

Nancy was born in Troy, NY on September 26, 1946 to the late Catherine M. and Chester O. Lambert. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, she went on to earn her B.A. from the College of Mount Saint Vincent in Riverdale, NY and her M.A. from SUNY Albany, both in Education.

Nancy was a dedicated English teacher at Hoosic Valley Junior Senior High School in Schaghticoke, NY, impacting the lives of hundreds of students. This is also where she met the love of her life, the late Mark C. Van Sluyters. Nancy and Mark were happily married and spent 42 inseparable years together.

After retiring, both she and Mark continued to enjoy traveling to new places and meeting new people. Nancy also celebrated spending time with her friends and truly relished her time working at Clearly Yours, in Loudonville, NY.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her surviving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and her many friends and colleagues. She will be remembered most by those who knew her for her kindness. She is now at peace with Mark, lovingly smiling by her side.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the members of Van Rensselaer Manor, especially in the B-1 and C-3 units, for their care and compassion during Nancy's stay there.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY on Thursday, March 27, 2025, 10:00 AM with Reverend Geoffrey Burke, celebrant. Nancy will be laid to rest immediately following the mass at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
