MARY SYBELLA (RICHARDSON) MARSH Latham-Mary Sybella (Richardson) Marsh, 89 of Latham, beloved wife of Robert Francis Marsh, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on the evening Tuesday, June 29th, 2021. Born in Staten Island, NY on June 25, 1932, she was the daughter and third child of the late Thomas and Honora (nee Manley) Richardson. A lifetime learner with a voracious appetite for reading, she attended St. Peter's High School in Staten Island and received a B.A. degree from Notre Dame College in Staten Island with majors in Biology and Spanish. She earned a Master's Degree from SUNY Albany in Library Science. She taught fifth grade before marrying her beloved husband Robert Francis Marsh on August 28, 1954. Mary raised her seven children and was actively engaged in their education and activities. She became an independent contractor for the sales of Middle and Highschool text books and traveled New England and New York State extensively. She was a member of the American Salesman Association of NYS. Mary loved exploring and traveling with her husband, or alone, to many countries including Ireland, Great Britain, Kenya, Australia, France, Germany, Mexico, Israel, and Canada as well as having accomplished visiting all fifty states. After retirement Mary divided her time between NY and Florida where she was an active member of the Tampa Bay Fossil Club and The Suncoast Conchologist Club (the study and collection of sea shells). A devoted Catholic, she was a member of the Third Order of Franciscans since 1951 and a member of the Rosary Altar Society of Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. She was also a co-den mother of Troop 63 in Latham, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Elks Club Colonie Lodge 2193 in Latham. Mary is survived by her husband Robert Francis Marsh of Latham, children Mary Pat "Sis" Butterly of Ireland, Christopher John Marsh of Rexford, NY, Michael Anthony Marsh of Woodbridge, VA, Daniel Gerard Marsh of Point Of Rocks, MD, Jonathan Paul Marsh of Saratoga Springs, and Thomas Severn Marsh of Forest Hills. In addition to her parents Mary is predeceased by her son, Robert Thomas Marsh and siblings John Richardson and Patricia Shukis. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd., Latham with Fr. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colonie.
