SHEILA GERALDINE RILEY
Albany – Sheila Geraldine Riley entered into eternal life on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albany, NY.
Sheila was born January 18, 1945, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Sylvester and Dorothy (Wagner) Riley. She and her parents moved to Loudonville where she graduated from Shaker High School in Latham. Sheila worked for the New York State Library in various departments for more than 30 years until she retired in 2000. In retirement, she fulfilled her lifetime love of taking care of young children by providing babysitting and daycare for her friends' families.
She was a fan of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe and classic movies, television and music. Sheila loved animals and owned several dogs over the course of her life. She could often be spotted in the 1970s and 1980s at Hoffman's Playland when her nieces and nephews were visiting. Whenever they pleaded "Just one more ride, Aunt Sheila," she would always happily relent and give them each another ticket.
Sheila is predeceased by her parents; sister Patricia; and brothers Richard and Kevin. She is survived by her brothers John of Albany, Michael and his wife Penny of Florida and Robert and his wife Nicole of Canada; and many nieces and nephews living in Florida, Virginia and Canada.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Latham.
Sheila's family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Friday, May 14th, 2021 from 9:00am - 10:30am at The Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
