WILLIAM RAYMOND HEWLETT Latham-William Raymond Hewlett of Latham, NY, born in Dallas, TX on March 5, 1943, son of Charles Spillman and Mary Cecile (Bledsoe) Hewlett, died on February 4, 2021. Bill enlisted in the Army in 1964, and graduated from the Defense Language Institute of Monterey, CA. He was accepted into Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, GA and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Later he was assigned to Ft. Meade, MD as an intelligence analyst at the National Security Agency. He ended his tour of duty with the rank of Captain in 1970. He also obtained his BA degree while in the Army. After retiring from the military, Bill was hired by General Electric in Washington, DC. GE later transferred him to Schenectady, NY where he headed the planning and design staff for the new business-to-business calling center. Upon completion, he became the Director of the GE Business Information Center (GEBIC). After his GE retirement, Bill later became a Realtor and worked for Coldwell Baker for over 10 years. In his final years, he worked in the office at his daughter and son-in-law's business, Menges & Curtis Apothecary, in Saratoga Springs, NY. Bill will be remembered for his kind and generous nature. He was always ready to help anyone and really enjoyed mentoring and encouraging young people to achieve their dreams. He was an avid reader and loved planning and taking his family on trips that made wonderful memories. He is survived by his wife, Joye J. (Nichols) Hewlett, daughter Jennifer J. (Hewlett) Lamb, and son-in-law Scott S. Lamb. A memorial service will be privately held at a future date. He will be laid to rest at Saratoga National Cemetery.
