Shocked and saddened. My heart goes out to all of Davids family. I have so many happy memories of Dave that make me smile. One of the stories he loved to tell people was about when he babysat for our daughter. I told Dave we used cloth diapers. He didn't bat an eye. I told him to leave them in the sink (meaning the bathroom sink) and I would take care of them when I got home. When we arrived home there was a tower of diapers in the kitchen sink. He told us every time she made a peep she got a bottle or a diaper change. He was quite proud of himself. That is something I loved about Dave. He was always all in, 100 percent!!
Another memory, Dave once again giving 100 percent. We were all camping out and my husband was planning on surprising me with a new ATV. My husband unloaded what I though was Daves new ATV. He proceeded to ride it around fast and furious making tight turns and taking off again. I told Dave that I couldn't believe that he was riding his new ATV like crazy man. He laughed and said he wasn't. He grinned from ear to ear over that one.
Dave also amused himself by flushing the upstairs toilet and then dumping water through the vent onto my head. He loved when I was his pitch partner (not). So many happy memories.
I laugh and cry as I write this. Dave had a huge personality and will be so terribly missed by all his friends and family.
I wish his family peace in their hearts.
Rest in peace David.

I enjoyed working with Dave at Key. I was a credit guy in Maine who happened to grow up in Glens Falls. I had some fun with him one day setting him up. Told him I really wanted to understand one of his bigger more profitable clients better and could he take me there. He did. When we walked in the owner saw me and immediately gave me a big hellow, Dave looked confused. The client and I then let Dave know we had known each other since 3rd grade. It was great to see my old friend after many years, but even more fun to pull one over on Dave. The next two clients we went to visit, that he had set , ironically had key people who I had known for nearly as long, a great surprise for me, and Dave began to shake his head... A great day in my career and Dave will always be a part of it. Peace Dave, and to your family. Bill Dehais, Cumberland Maine

Dave was my brother in law so I got to know him later than some of you. We came to respect each other and also to have a lot of fun together, particularly when downhill skiing. Sometimes I would let him think he had me, only to blow by him just as he was tasting victory! Speaking of colorful language... Anyway in time I think I might find it comforting to know, after a perfect run, that Dave will meet me at the bottom with a big old "what took you so long" grin on his face.

Dave was such a huge part of our lives growing up in the Adirondacks. He was a good friend of my brother Don Purdy and was always tolerant of me being “the annoying little sister at Purdy’s House.” Dave always had a laugh and a kind word for all of us. So sad time hear of his passing and we are keeping your family in our thoughts.

As I mourn the loss of my dear friend, sports will be one of the things that reminds me of Dave, especially golf.
I can count my lifelong friends on one hand. Dave was one of them.
As teens, we fished from his dock, water skied at Piseco Lake and hiked up Panther Mountain. We rode his snowmobile and snow skied in the winter and played hoops on his driveway and in various gyms. During the summer before my senior year in college, I played baseball in the Albany Twilight League. Dave was my host-- at his Aunt Dot's home. The experience helped me become a much better player, but perhaps more importantly, helped forge our friendship.
Everyone knows Dave hated to lose, whether it was a game of cards, golf or hoops. Often exasperated, his temper revealed itself in off-color language when things didn't go well or a foul wasn't called on the court. His anger didn't last long.
I loved that about him.
In 2007, Dave and I played at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Fountain Hills, Ariz. and had a memorable day. I imagine we talked about life, our jobs, my kids, the Blessing family, our mutual friends and Piseco, the place that formed our bond from age 5.
He hadn't met Alison, his future wife, but golf helped bring them together as well. In 2011, they traveled to Scottsdale, played some golf, enjoyed the desert and ventured north to Sedona. After a few decades living as a bachelor, Dave was ready to settle down. I was so happy he found her.
I'm pretty sure Dave took up the golf in his 20's and was, initially, pretty frustrated with the experience. But he kept working hard at it, eventually joined Shaker Ridge Country Club near the Albany Airport and likely cemented many business deals on the course.
It also wasn't long before he was making birdies and beating me.
About two years ago, when I was stranded at the Albany Airport with my son, I remembered the time he invited me to play Shaker Ridge. Now, I could almost see it out of the hotel window. It was a reason to call him. The conversation lasted a minute or two and our connection was poor. Dave was out of town, visiting his Dad, but he offered us the chance to play Shaker. That was Dave. A loyal, generous friend. I wish we could play more golf together or just have more conversations about life--or sports, or anything.
I'll miss him.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the absolute pleasure of working with Dave at Pioneer. He was an amazing man He always made it a point to walk through my side of the building just to say Hi or Good Morning, after of course jostling him! He will be very very missed. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
