FRANCES E. GILCOYNE
Clifton Park – Frances "Francie" (DeSorrento) Gilcoyne passed away on May 29, 2020 at Ellis Hospital in Schnectady, NY after enjoying a beautiful, long life of 96 years. Born the youngest daughter of six children on February 3, 1924 to her loving parents Nazarrano "Ned" DeSorrento and Rose (Romeo) DeSorrento. She was raised and educated in Watervliet, NY, graduating from Watervliet Highschool and then employed by Behr Manning Norton Co. in her early years before enjoying an early retirement. It was on July 28, 1970 that she married her beloved husband Thomas G. Gilcoyne. The two shared a blessed union of love and devotion for over 37 years, traveling the world together and attending many high-profile social events around the capital district, particularly those held by the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga where her husband Tom served as the historian and librarian. They were also dedicated members for many years of the Country Club of Troy, and The Troy Club until Tom passed away on January 3, 2008.
A woman of high class and grace, Francie was typically the person with the most energy in any room she walked into. She loved animals, traveling, fine-dining, shopping and never missed a good party, no matter how far she had to travel to get there! She was the doting and ever supportive Aunt, Great Aunt and Great-Great Aunt to many, most especially to her niece and nephew, her dedicated caretakers, Donna (Jack) Conroy of Cumming, GA. and John Jablonski of Schnectady, NY. The loving list of her additional surviving nieces and nephews includes: James (Karen) DeSorrento, Mark DeSorrento, Carole (Joe) Jeraci, Maureen (Scott) Owens, Amy Giaquin, Paul DeSorrento and Ned Alaskey along with many Great-Nieces and Nephews as well as Great-Great nieces and nephews all spread across the nation.
A special Thank You to Sue Kane and Michele and Michael Greene, for all of you've done.
In addition to her husband Tom, Francie is predeceased by her faithful canine Yorkie, Gucci and all her Brothers and Sisters, Anthony (Emily) DeSorrento, Otto (Nancy) DeSorrento, Mary Jablonski, Dorothy (Arthur) DeLuca, Ned (Cindy) DeSorrento as well as nieces and nephews, Katherine DeSorrento, John DeSorrento, Robert DeSorrento, JoAnne Valente and Joe Alaskey and her great-nephew, Justin DeSorrento.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will unfortunately be no calling hours. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy where she will be laid to rest beside her best friend Tom. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Francie's memory to Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, Menands.
