Obituary of Sylvia G. Conboy

SYLVIA G. CONBOY Loudonville- Sylvia G. Conboy, 88 of Loudonville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Cohoes on January 1, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Philomena (Morante) Vega. She was married to Thomas E. Conboy in 1953 and the two shared a blessed union of love and devotion for 38 years prior to his passing in 1991. Sylvia was a Waitress for over 30 years at the Howard Johnsons in Latham retiring in 1993. Prior to that she performed many administrative duties for the New York State Offices in Albany. Sylvia truly enjoyed crafts and ceramics, crosswords, gardening and especially scratch-offs, but first and foremost was her family, which were the center of her life. She is survived by her loving children: Lt. Col. Sharon M. Weinlein of Loudonville, Barbara J. (Lawrence) Numrich of Latham, Linda M. (Thomas Bacon) Pyska of Waterford, Nancy L. (Richard) Piché of Loudonville and Thomas J. (Debra) Conboy of Windsor, CT. Six cherished grandchildren: Joseph Pyska, Michael Pyska, Gary Weinlein, Jennifer DeAngelo, Meghan Mercier and Lauren Numrich. Three adored great grandchildren: Adelyn Weinlein, Benjamin Weinlein, Kayleigh Mercier, several nieces and nephews and her friend: Joseph Genevieve. Sylvia is predeceased by her siblings: Caroline Comi and Helen, Philip, John and Alfred Vega. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Wednesday May 31, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Sylvia's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday June 1 at 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Fr. Steve Matthews officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204. Interment will take place next to her beloved husband Tom in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford.
