GENEVIEVE L. COGHILL Latham- Genevieve L. Coghill, 96, of Latham, beloved wife of the late William S. Coghill, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 24, 2016 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's in Albany. Born in Watervliet on February 11, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Wrzosek) Serafin. She graduated from Troy High School. Genevieve was married to William on June 15, 1946 and the two shared a loving and devoted union of 53 years prior to his passing on January 2, 1999. After high school, Genevieve worked at Hoffman's Diner and then during the war she worked at Behr-Manning on defense work by wrapping coils for plane propellers. After the war she then was employed at Montgomery Ward's in Menands where she was modeling and in sales. Then after her marriage to William she left the workforce to be a dedicated homemaker; raising her three children. In her later years, she returned to work as the manager of David's women's clothing store in Latham. She enjoyed bowling and traveling with her husband, family and friends. Genevieve is survived by her loving daughters: Catherine (Manfred) Nicolas and Cynthia (William) Garwig both of Latham and Daughter in Law: Cynthia Southard of Latham. Her seven cherished grandchildren: Eric Hunter Nicolas, Kara (Darrell) Herrington, Tyler Alexander Lockwood, William Kent, Michael Hunter and Daniel Alexander Coghill and Dan (Mariko) Pollock as well as her adored Great Grandson: Reed Nicolas Herrington and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son: William James Coghill, sister: Rita Shufelt, and her brothers: William and Raymond Serafin. A special thank you to Doris, Maggie, Nick & Raji for their care and compassion. Genevieve's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday November 28, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Genevieve's memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 or to Community Hospice Foundation, 310 S. Manning Blvd, Albany NY 12208 Interment will take place next to her beloved William in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
