Obituary of James F. O'Donnell

JAMES F. O'DONNELL Latham-James F. O'Donnell, 93 of Latham, husband of the late Elizabeth F. Burke O'Donnell entered into eternal life on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. Born in Troy, on September 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary O'Donnell. He was a graduate of Siena College with a bachelor's degree in accounting. Jim was employed by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance for over 40 years as a tax analyst retiring in 1990. A Latham resident for 52 years he was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. Jim was also a former member of the Troy Knights of Columbus for many years. Survivors include his daughter Mary Agnes (Neal) Metheny of Latham, his grandson Daniel E. Metheny of Latham and brother Joseph O'Donnell of Troy. Jim was predeceased by his son Francis "FX" O'Donnell. He is also survived by his canine companions P.J. and Barkley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be next to his wife and son in Memory Garden's, Colonie.
