Obituary of Dorothy L. Ashe

DOROTHY L. ASHE Watervliet- Dorothy L. Ashe, 85 formerly of Watervliet, beloved wife of the late Robert W. Ashe, entered into eternal life on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush. Born in Albany on March 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mildred (Finklestein) Mann. Dorothy attended Albany Schools and was a graduate of Albany High School. She was educated in the proficiencies of voice and piano at the Boston Conservatory. In her earlier years she performed piano and singing at many capital district establishments. On October 13, 1951 she married her beloved Robert Walter Ashe and they shared 52 years of marriage prior to his passing on May 17, 2004. She had a deep abiding faith in her lord Jesus Christ. Her greatest joy in life was raising her family and the time spent with them. Survivors include her loving children John (Anna) Ashe of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Susan (Eric) Drescher of Watervliet, Lisa (Kevin) Cavanaugh of Latham, her cherished grandchildren Danielle Unser, Jason Ashe, Janelle Ashe, Kindra Nichols, Brandon Drescher, Christopher Drescher, Austin Drescher, Kailyn Jopling, Evan Cavanaugh, Jenna Cavanaugh and Chelsea Cavanaugh, her adored great-grandchildren Ryan Unser, Henry Unser, Lilly Nichols and Avery Jopling. She is also survived by her sister Joan Allen. Dorothy was also predeceased by her sister Lois Ringwalt. Funeral services will be held Monday August 15, 2016 at the convenience of the family in the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Calling hours private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be next to her husband in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
