LOUIS E. DOODIAN Latham- Louis E. Doodian 90 of Latham, beloved husband of Rita Zucconi, passed away on Thursday April 7, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital with his beloved daughter at his side. Born September 5th 1925 in Troy, Louis was the son of the late Habib and Elizabeth (Demerjian) Doodian. He married Rita Zucconi on February 8th 1958, cherishing 54 years of marriage before her passing May 28, 2012. Lou proudly served during World War II in the Coast Guard from November 9th 1943 to September 21st 1945. Lou was a Quality Assurance Specialist inspecting cannons all over the world for the Watervliet Arsenal. He worked there for a total of 38 years before retiring in 1981. In his retired years, he was a lifeguard at Albany's YMCA. Louis was a member of the Town of Colonie zoning board of appeals, the American Legion of Albany, the Latham-Colonie Knights of Columbus and was a past exalted ruler at Colonie Elk's Lodge #2192. When he was younger he enjoyed playing hand ball and racquet ball, Lou was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Survivors include his loving daughter Michele M. Doodian of Latham, dear brother of George E. (the late Kathleen) Doodian of Latham and the late Josephine D. (Christopher) Long of Albany, cousin of Bernard Doodian and also several nieces and nephews. Louis was predeceased by his cherished son Paul M. Doodian in 1977. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment will take place at St. Agnes Cemetery in Cohoes. In lieu of flowers, donations to American Cancer Society 1 Penny Lane, Latham, New York 12110 would be appreciated.
