ARLENE A. VANSLYKE Latham- Arlene A. VanSlyke, 75 of Latham passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Albany on March 11, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Louise (Parker) Marino. She is predeceased by her husband's Patrick J. Stempel and Paul M. VanSlyke. At one time Arlene worked as a Home Health Aide serving Hospice in the Capital District for many years as well as working for a short time in the cafeteria at the Bethlehem School. First and foremost she was a devoted homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She truly loved people and Tweety Bird. She was a Life Member of the East Berne Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. Arlene is survived by her loving children: Patricia (Jack) A. Stempel, Patrick J. (Kimberly) Stempel, Michael A. Stempel, Diane T. (John) Belott, and George E. Stempel, six cherished grandchildren Felicia Schaller, Patrick "P.J." Stempel Jr., Veronica Stempel, Michael Belott, Joshua Belott, Ashley Belott, two greatgrandchildren: Kaylee Dutcher and Joshua Alan Belott Jr. as well as her siblings Andrew Marino, Mildred Moffitt, Dolores Hahn, Susan MacDaniele and Debbie Dunn, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday September 7, 2017 from 10:30-11:30 AM at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Arlene's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:30 am at the conclusion of the visitation at the church with Fr. Brian Kelly officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Liver Foundation, 3900 Broadway, Suite 2700, NY, NY 10006 Interment will take place at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.
