Janet M. DeLap


Colonie- Janet M. DeLap, 83 of Colonie, beloved wife of Joseph J. DeLap entered into eternal life on Friday December 22, 2017 at the Community Hospice Inn with her beloved family at her side.

Born in Albany on August 9, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (Murray) Dunn. She was a graduate of Vincentian Institute in Albany class of 1952. Janet married her beloved Joseph DeLap on January 4, 1953 and the two have shared a beautiful marriage of over 64 years. A lifelong resident of Colonie, she was an administrative assistant with Fines Auto Sales in Albany for many years. She was a former member and past president of the Tennessee Walker horse club. Janet was also a member of the N.Y.S. Saddle Association. She also ran a mini-tack shop on Pearce road in Colonie for many years. Later in life she assisted her husband Joe in Charles R. Mead Inc. Associates for several years.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her loving daughter Debra (Patrick Mastro) A. Heider of Latham, her cherished grandson Gregory (Kara) Heider, her sister, Sharon (Chester Sr.) Boehlke of Slingerlands, her adored great-grandchildren Mallory and Gavin Heider. Janet was the ½ sister of Paul Dunn and Kathleen (Paul) Carter of Orlando FL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and her favorite Tennessee Walker horses Dagwood, Thunder and Brandy. She was predeceased by her Brother James (Carole) F. Dunn

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Our Lady of Assumption Church Saturday December 30, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery in Colonie.

The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Julio Colon for the special care given to Janet during her stay at the Teresian House.
