|  SR. GRACIA MARIE DROLET LSP Latham- Sister St Emmanuel, a Little Sister of the Poor for over 65 years, died peacefully, surrounded by her Little Sisters at Our Lady of Hope Residence, Latham, NY on January 4, 2012 at the age of 100. The eldest of 13 children, Sister St Emmanuel became a "little mother" to her 12 siblings on the early death of her father which necessitated her mother's taking on a job to support the family. World War II was still waging when Sister St Emmanuel left home to answer the Lord's call to become a Little Sister of the Poor. She humbly and quietly served the elderly poor in 9 of the Little Sisters' Homes for the elderly in France before returning to her native Canada, then to Latham, for the remaining years of her life. Known for her discreet love for the poor, profound faith of serving Christ in them, attention to those details which made them happy, Sister St Emmanuel leaves her Little Sisters an example of a religious who sacrificed herself for others and welcomed with a grateful heart all that God ordained for her throughout her long life. In addition to her Little Sisters in Latham, Sister St Emmanuel leaves behind a brother, Camille, and a sister, Jeannette, and many loving nieces and nephews, all from Canada. Calling hours for Sister St Emmanuel are from 2:30 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 11th at Our Lady of Hope Residence 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 12th in Our Lady of Hope Chapel. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy, following the Mass. Donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane Latham, NY 12110 in memory of Sr. Emmanuel would be appreciated.
